2024 edition of the T20 World Cup Cricket is jointly co hosted by the United States and the West Indies and started with USA defeating Canada by 7 wickets in the opening game of the tournament.

Player of the match was Aaron Jones of the United States who scored a remarkable 94 of just 40 balls in a superb chase of 194 runs at the Grand Prairie stadium in Dallas , Texas. USA comfortably chased 194 runs in just 17 overs and 5 balls . Andries Gous supported Jones with 65 runs in 46 balls. Canada batted first and scored 194 runs in 20 overs which initially looked a very good score to defend with half centuries from Navneet Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton . But the brilliant batting by the United States made the chase look easy and were able to achieve it with 13 balls remaining.

This win gave the co host ,US ,a positive start to the World Cup and  they are looking to  carry the momentum with stronger teams further down the tournament.

India looks a good and formidable side looking to make up for their loss in the 2023 World Cup final to Australia. T20 Defending champions England is looking good to make an impact in this tournament after their disappointing performance in the 50 over World Cup in 2o23.

T20 World Cup will be held from June 1-June 29 with England playing their opening match against Scotland in Barbados on Tuesday with India playing their opening match against Ireland in New York On Wednesday.Cricket fans are looking forward to the tournament which is featuring 20 teams for the first time in its history.
